31st May 2008:
Liverpool

In 2008 Liverpool is the European Capital of Culture, so we a made a point of taking our Italian cultural expert, Alessandro, on his first visit to the city. We had a weekend to fit in as much Englishness as possible. We started with Little Moreton Hall.
Biddulph Gardens
A cream tea - doesn't come much more English.
A sunset at New Brighton can match any in the world.
The highlight of the trip (and real purpose for it) was the Liverpool Sound concert at Anfield stadium for which we had highly sought-after tickets.
It featured the Zutons and the Kaiser Chiefs, who were OK, but paled in comparison to...
...Paul McCartney.

"Live and Let Die"
The concert finished with fireworks. (See all the video clips in the video section.)
Our final day was spent admiring Liverpool city centre and we had lunch at the Metropolitan Cathedral, with Naomi and Matthew.
