9th May 2009:
Morrises visit Piemonte

In May Al's parents came for a long weekend in Turin.
We visited on of the many Savoy residences near Turin - the castle of Aglie. The roses were in bloom...
...and it was a lovely day for relaxing.
The following day we dedicated our attention to the The Langhe wine growing region, and in particular the town of La Morra.
With Alessandro at the top of the bell tower.
Then down to the serious business of trying some wine.
We visited the cellars of the Mascarello family...
...and were taught the important points about their wine.
No 1, its very good...
Followed by a stroll down the hill to a blow-out lunch at Ristorante Bovio, one of the best around.
We finished the meal (3 and a half hours later), basking in the sunshine with a glass of Barolo Chinato - a spiced red wine.
Alessandro...
...and his parents showed us a great time.
In order to further aid digestion, we went for a wander amongst the vines...
...to a local landmark - a cedar of lebanon atop a hill.
A great spot for a post-prandial kip!
