10th October 2009:
The Sentiero del Barolo, La Morra, Piemonte

John and Anna visited us in October and we took the opportunity to do the Sentiero del Barolo...
...a 13km walk (the red line) which leads through all the main cru vineyards of the Barolo wine (coloured splodges) around the town of La Morra.
We were blessed with good weather and great views across and through the vineyards.
The harvest was already under way but many vines were still heavy laden with the precious nebbiolo grapes.
A welcome picnic lunch... and time to mess around on a roundabout!
An ancient chapel, now painted by Sol Lewitt and David Tremlett, who supposedly received a constant supply of Barolo in return!
Anyone want me to paint anything for them...?
And to finish the day a well-earned, many-coursed dinner with, of course, some Barolo to drink.
The following day, enjoying the sunshine...
...and a coffee at Fiat's ex-factory at Lingotto.
