17th October 2009:
Di Sori in Sori

Rachael, Clare and John visited in October and we took a trip to the palace of Venaria Reale.
With its fabulous long gallery designed by the architect Juvarra.
In the evening, a selection of local specialities in Piazza Vittorio - pork ribs cooking around the edge of a huge wood stove.
The following day we travelled to the Langhe.
It was an exceptionally clear day - the best we have seen on our (many) visits to the Langhe, and the views of the Alps in the distance beyond the rolling hills of vineyards were spectacular.
The target for the day was the town of Diano d'Alba, for an event called "Di Sori in Sori"; local dialect for from vineyard to vineyard.
Objective, to walk amongst the vines of the area, eating the courses of your lunch at various farmhouses along the way.
The autumn colours were spreading across the recently harvested vines, to give a tapestry of reds and greens.
Did I mention that there was wine involved? Each of the 6 stages is an opportunity to try a different one.
The end of a great day!
