October 2004 - July 2005:
Cranfield University

Al studied for 1 year at Cranfield University (which has a Norman Foster designed library. Very nice)
His Master's research project was done for the Jaguar Formula 1 team, on their front suspension.
Specifically, on that flat little bit of the suspension that joins onto the car!
Which meant snapping some Formula 1 suspension struts!
And some completely free visits to Silverstone to stand around and watch testing!
In his spare time Al worked with a Days of Thunder Racing team at Rockingham - Britains foremost oval circuit.
He was a spotter - so stood in the grandstand watching the whole circuit, so as to tell the driver what was going on / what was behind him.
That's Al up there (honest)
Our pit garage
The boys doing their stuff in the pitstop
Our car's mascot
A brush with Liberty-X... how exciting!
The most dramatic moment of the season by far was when our car (the yellow one) crashed into another which was spinning across the track. Al's last words to the driver were, "he's spinning down, go high". Unfortunately the driver went low. Ouch!
